Welcome
to your Project Login Account!
The tools and processes described here
allow Tightweb to see your comments, suggestions
and concerns nearly as soon as you submit
them. It also allows you to see new
page updates, changes or suggested layouts
when they've been
completed. It allows Tightweb the ability to monitor
the security of the account --- notifying
us
immediately when an intrusion is being
attempted and recording all intrusion
IP addresses.
This
'HELP' section is meant to
assist you in managing and controlling
the direction and the development aspect of your site
You can select the help item(s) on this page that you wish to
review - or simply scroll down the page
reviewing all of the materials contained herein.
It
is essential for you to maintain communications between
yourself and Tightweb in all matters of development. You are an important and essential
part of the development process. We take
the basic ideas you've given us and weave
them into a conceptual idea of a web page for
you to review. This first step gives you an idea of of what direction we're heading in. You have the ability of
inserting your ideas into the process, telling us what type of layout
you'd rather have, what colors to use - locations
of element, etc. You provide this as feedback
to the development and design process the various teams are involved in
and they can really start the process knowing that they have a starting point from which to work. If feedback is slow in coming, the project can bog down. Feedback is the essential fuel of the process - and at the same time, it assures YOU the greatest control over the direction of the development process! |

How
to use the Project Status form

The
first page you'll encounter is the Project
Status or your primary development account
page. This
is the most
important page in your account. It allows
you to keep up on the project by reviewing
the most current development
remarks (fig 1), the total number
of pages prepared for review (fig
2), and
to be able to click on the pages themselves
to review the most current version. (fig
3).
Once
you've reviewed the page or pages you still
need to approve, you can click on the 'Critique
Proof' option (fig
4) to send us your
comments or suggestions (what you like
and don't like). If you wish to make a
substantial change to the project - use
the 'Change Order' option (fig
5). If you
need to alter the page design - use 'Make
Changes to Proof' (fig
6). Once a page
is exactly the way you want it, use 'Approve
Proof' to approve either the entire project
- or an individual page (fig
7).
If
you need to contact us immediately - use
the 'Contact Tightweb' button (fig
8).
There
are two blue buttons at the bottom of the
page. You can close this window by clicking
your mouse on the 'Close Window Button'.
You can use the 'Edit Profile' button to
change your login ID and password. You
can also review your profile to ensure
that everything is correct. Messages from
the development staff will appear (see
fig 1) in your Profile Page as well as
above.

How
to use the Critique Proof form

The
primary communications page for providing
your comments and suggestions regarding
new pages is the Critique Page. It will
allow you to address each individual design element
- as well as giving you an opportunity
to provide general non-specific comments.
Each
form page will allow you to access the help page
- (fig
1). The Option
Panel (fig 2) appears on each page. This
will enable you to move around taking advantage
of all of the tools available. Please note
- only the Status or Development Page will
remain up when you've selected another option from the Option Panel. If for example you go to the Critique Page - then to then to the Change Page, you'll lose all of the information on the Critique Page unless you click on the 'Submit' Button at the bottom of the form. Once you select another tool or form, the page you're on will close. if you close your current tool page (or form), you'll find the Status Page will still be open.
Remember, when selection options from the option panel, the previous
option will exit out. So if you're not
done with the page or form you're on (if you have clicked on the submit button) - don't select
another tool until you are or you will lose your comments and/or changes.
(fig
3). Each page will remember your name,
domain and project. However, each page
will allow you to select one of the pages
from your project that is available for
viewing. Simply click on the pull down
list (entitled Page Name) and select the
proper page by clicking on its name).
Your
project number will appear on all of your
pages. When referencing your project in
communicating with us (its not necessary
if you're using these tools), please include
your project number. (fig
4).
The
body of the form (fig
5) includes all of
the various individual elements that go into a web page. You'll find a description of their use below. If you want to address any of the elements on the site, you need to know what they do, their limitations and how to change them. To send a comment - you will need to first click on the box in front of the element and then add you're commens.
- Design -
Design is the over all sense or flavor
of the page. The graphics which are used
- the enhancements, heading - lettering,
etc. If you have preferences concerning
type styles, lettering, color - indicate
them here. Some caution is advised however.
Usually if too many various type styles
or colors are used on one page its look
amateurish and non-professional.
- Copy - Copy refers to the text or the writing
(information) on the page. This generally
concern the writing. If you wish changes
in the information or writing style on
the page - indicate it here.
- General
Layout - The general layout
of the page usually follows accepted
journalistic
practices. This including the heading,
the body and the ending or footer of
the page. In an advertisement layout
- the first thing that looked at by the
viewer is the top right of the page.
Generally - in a web page, the top left
of the page is considered the most important.
Use this section to comment on what changes
you wish to make concerning how the page
is constructed.
- Java
/ Java Scripts - Java is the coding within
the various browsers which static web
pages to do different things. This usually
controls pull down menus, roll-over buttons,
color changes and moving type. Recently
Microsoft has made some changes to its
operating system and browser which disables
some java elements. If you wish to remove
or include Java elements, this is the
section to discuss it in.
- Links -
Links are the devices within a page that
allows the visitor to move within
the site --- or be transported to other
web sites. These can be simply words
(usually underlined to indicate a link),
a button, a hot spot within a page or
s slice of a graphic (or even a graphic
itself). If you wish to change, modify
or add a particular like (or multiple
links), indicate that in this section.
- Navigation - Here is the section to discuss the
ability to move around the page and the
web site. Moving from page to page or
from element to element within a web
page or web site is referred to as "Navigation".
Review the page and decide whether navigation
is easy and clear, or hard and confusing.
If you wish to change navigation ---
or comment on navigation on the site,
please discuss it here.
- Background
Colors - Background colors is the color
behind type characters and graphics.
If you wish to change a color in the
background of the page, please indicate
that information here.
- Border
Colors -There are several methods of
including borders within a web page.
Some - but not all are colored. And when
color is used, it is generally used as
an accent. If you wish to change a border
color, indicate what color you wish to
use along with the location of the border
you wish to modify.
- Background
Design - As with background
colors, background design can also be
modified. Keep in
mind, that in most cases - the color
background of a background design can
not be modified (in other words, if you
wish to keep the design but change the
color because the color is part of the
design). If you have a design - or can
suggest a design you'd like to see here,
let us know.
- Logo/Sig
Design -
In most cases, it is the specific responsibility
of the client to provide
a usable design for the site. If Tightweb

your company? If you have suggestions
or need changes - please indicate what
changes you wish to make - or functions
you don't like, here.
- Ease
of Use - Is the buttons, tables and links
on the page easy to understand and use?
Please include comments regarding Ease
in this section.
- Load
Speed - All tightweb designed pages are
optimized for speed. If you're using
a great deal of graphics on a page -
there are two methods of optimization:
size and sharpness. To speed up a page
with a large number of graphics - you
indicate what is more agreeable to you,
reducing their current sizes or their
pixel detail (sharpness).
- General
Desktop look - Again, this pretty much
goes back to design but more generally.
- Database
Design - If a database is being
used, this references the design of the
database
and its relevant tables. if you wish
to add or remove information or data,
please indicate that here.
- Coding Elements - If
your site is using php or perl scripts,
coding or programming,
then you can make comments here. Usually
this will entail information regarding
the specific function of a script. Is it
doing the right things, are the emails
being returned to you proper and containing
all the necessary information. Are the
redirection pages properly presented?
- Information Distribution -
is the information which (or collect) properly
presented.
This is kind of a general area of comment
regarding the information (either outgoing
or inputting) that your site needs.
- Position of the Elements -
this pertains specifically to positioning
of the various
layout elements (headings, logos, tabs,
photographs - etc. If you wish to move,
add, delete or comment on a specific element
in the layout - regarding its position/size,
do so here.
- If you'd like to make some General,
non-specific comments, suggestions
or instructions, you can do it in the
box located here (up
to 225 characters).
Fig 5 is an
approval shortcut for the page you selected
above. Do you Approve this page?
At this option, you
can
approve
this
specific,
individual
page (with the comments, changes etc. that
you've made). Remember, once you approve
the page - you won't be able to access
it from these tools. You will, however,
be able to continue to request minor changes
for the next 30 to 60 days after the entire
site is approved and accepted. The default
on this section is Yes. If you don't want
to approve the page - you'll have to click
your mouse on either Needs More Work ---
or if you wish a return phone call, the
Call Me button.

How
to use the Change To Order / Web
Page form

If
you wish to add something to your project
- that was not provided as part of the original
quote, you are encouraged to use this form.
While many things can be changed - small
things can be added and modified that weren't
in the original quote - other additions
could add to the cost of the project!
In
completing this form, you need to specify
what changes are going to be made to the
project. For example, you've decided to
add contact forms rather than using raw
email address (to protect yourself from
spammers). Since this wasn't in the initial
scope of the project, you need to explain
what you want (fig
1) as well as providing
specific instructions. Since forms require
either perl or php coding (we would recommend
php), you check the box in front of PHP
(fig 4) for
PHP (Listed under Service/Product (fig
5). You may add additional comments
concerning PHP under the heading Comments
(fig 6). In
most cases, the services ordered may be
provided directly by Tightweb's
Hosting Services - but in some cases, it
can not. For example, we can set up and program informix,
DB2, MSsql and Oracle - but these databases
are not installed on tightweb servers so
you'd have to secure hosting services with
another company in order to have these
database engines available. In addition,
Tightweb does not provide for Microsoft
products on its servers (MSSQL or ASP)
although we provide development services for them. You can
see what the Tightweb servers offer by
looking at the code (fig
7) and comparing
it with the Code Explanations at the bottom
of the page.
In submitting this change order,
you are required to acknowledge that you
are aware that changes included in this order
may increase the cost of the project (fig
2). If you wish to have Tightweb hold up
on making any of the indicated changes until
an additional quote is provided, you need
to click on the check box (fig
3). The provided
quote for the change order will include the
expected cost of the change order --- and
not the full project. It will be the client's responsibility
to total them together. With this option selected, Tightweb will not
proceed with the change order until you've
reviewed the quote and approved the additional
cost. In
some instances - ordered services will
not only require additional costs - but may
need to be paid in advance.

How
to use the Changes to the Page form

Very
similar to the Change Order form - but
not for use in making major changes, the
Make Changes to the Proof form should be
used when you wish to be very specific
about changes you addressed in the Critique
form. If you require major changes - the
Change Order form should be used.
In
making changes, you need to click your
mouse on the check box in from of the element
you wish to modify (fig
1). If you don't
check the box - the comments will not be
recorded. if you try to send a blank form,
you'll get an error asking you to try again.
In
the comments section, you need to enter
more specific comments about the element
you've selected (fig
2). Naturally, you
can add additional comments and instructions
at the bottom of the form in the section
entitled Add specific instruction, Comments
and Remarks here (fig
3). You can also
have someone call you by clicking your
mouse
on the
Call Me box (fig
4).

How
to use the Approve Page form
One
of the most important actions a client is
required to take --- is eventually approving
the the project. You can do that by either
approving each page individually or approving
the entire web site at one time. By clicking
your mouse button on the Approve/Comments
Pertain To Entire Project check box (fig
1), you can approve and accept the entire
web
project.If
this box is not checked, only the page
selected will be approved.
In
approving either a page or the site - you
have three individual options. You can
approve it AS IS which essentially means
that you're accepted it the way it looks
(fig 2). The second option is to accepted
it AS IS but with a comment (perhaps pointing
out that something else will be added shortly
(fig 3). The third option is to Approved
but with changes (fig 4). Both option
2 (fig 3) and option 3 (fig 4) have text
boxes in which you can provide up to 225
character long comments. NOTE - you can
not check AS IS --- but put your comments in Approve
with comments. If the check box is not checked,
no comments will be submitted.
Also,
keep in mind that no site will be moved
to a permanent hosting server until such
a time as the client accepts and/or approves
the project. Don't be concerned when approving
the project, Tightweb will continue to
work with you for the next 60 days in testing,
optimizing and making small changes and
modifications to the site.
Once
a page has been approved (or accepted),
the acceptance date will appear in the
Status or Approved Column on the development
page. Once a page is approved, no additional
changes may be made from these tools. However,
you certainly can continue to request changes
by clicking your mouse button on the Contact
Tightweb button on that page - from your
Control Panel or from the firm's main page. Before appoving a page, be sure that the design teams have met your full expectations and original order. We want you to be absolutely pleased with your new web page or web site! As long as you continue to provide feedback, we will continue to work with you to get a web site developed that meets your full expectations!

Some
General Information About the Client's
Role in the Development Process
Tightweb
feels strongly about the role the client
plays in the development process of his
or her own web site project. To this extent,
all log-ins through the Client Login tab
on the front page are recorded - including
the originating IP address. Aside from
security issues, we want to be assured
that the client is reviewing
the work in a timely manner and providing
proper critiques, comments and instructions
concerning the work as we move along. We are committed to providing you the client with work which meets your full satisfaction, regardless of the cost or how long it takes! We expect our clients to cooperate with us in meeting these goals by reviewing the work and providing the necessary feedback in a timely fashion.
As
the Development Team makes changes to the
site (the individual pages - or the site
on the whole), they will provide the client
with email (based upon the email address
reported in the Client's Profile). Copies
of these messages are available for review
- either from the Client's own profile
page or through the Development or Project
Status
Page. The client may review all of the
comments - last one first, simply by using
the scroll box on the top left of the Project
Status page. Comments are designated by the
date they were sent
The
client can contact the Development team
either by using the various Page tools
and forms available from the Control Panel
on the top of each of
the development pages - or from the RED
Contact Tightweb button on the Project
Status Page. You can also contact the Development
teach by using the Contact Us tab on the
main page. Please
do not
send
email. In most cases, email will be sent
to only one office or department and it
may not be the department involved in the
project.
The
Development team can do very little about
a site without proper feedback from the
client. We need to know if we're proceeding
in the right direction, if you like the
work or not - if you have a problem with
colors, information etc. In addition, we
need copy, text and logo originals from
the client in order to make the project
work.
In
the event that a client fails to review
the project (based upon log entries), and
feed back is not received, Tightweb will
designate client contact as being lost (after 30 days of no feedback) and
the client
will
be charged with the cost of
the project to that point. Once it is declared that client contact is lost, the project
will be terminated.
All
materials involved in project development
are owned and copyrighted by Tightweb Communications
until properly accepted and approved by
the client (using the forms and materials
described herein). Use of the material
available on a project site - or a site
not fully accepted or approved by a client
- by others without written authorization
of
Tightweb
Communications
- or until such
a time as the work is accepted and approved
by the client, is not permitted
In
addition - some work and elements of the
project may have
to be paid in advance. If the client wishes
the site to be activated on Tightweb's
own servers - the project must be accepted
first. Hosting services are available starting
at $5 per month - with periods of 4 months
(or greater) available. Hosting Service
payments are to be paid in advance. If
a database is involved - Tightweb must
have access to a hosting site with database
capability or the client will be expected
to make arrangements with Tightweb for
hosting. All aspects of hosting must be
paid in advance including secured site
provisions (SSL) and/or Database utilization.
Extensive
coding services as well as site optimization
services may also be required as advanced
payment.
Naturally
if you have any questions - on any of these
matters, please contact Tightweb
Communications at once.
